As the year draws to a close, it’s time to reflect on key moments that made 2024 an impactful year for Interventional Systems.
We established Strategic Partnerships to drive surgical robotics adoption
This year, we took a step further to expand access to robotics in percutaneous and minimally invasive surgery.
We doubled down on strategic partnerships to bring our FDA-cleared, CE-marked Micromate™ technology to more clinicians and, ultimately, to their patients. We managed our partners’ robotic program’s research and development, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing, allowing them to integrate robotics without building their own infrastructure. Today, any company that wants to offer the benefits of surgical navigation and robotics affordably, with market-leading puncture accuracy, but has no resources, time, or willingness to initiate such a program, knows where to go.
Learn more about our approach in this interview with Joe Mullings at SRS 2024 and this presentation at LSI USA ’24.
We also pursued other partnerships to keep innovation going for different industries. An example is our collaboration with IJX to combine the smallest robot and navigation system to build a shoulder surgery solution optimized for the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) settings due to its size and portability.
We celebrated more Micromate™ installations and cases
The Micromate™ robotic system expanded its global reach, with new hospitals and clinical teams adopting the technology and demonstrating its versatility and reliability across various applications. From biopsies to ablations, pain management interventions, and even first-of-its-kind robotic-assisted procedures like this leak closure, physicians used Micromate™ in more than 1200 CT- or CBCT-guided procedures this year!
Our Clinical Product Specialists also provided hands-on support to ensure every new installation went smoothly and teams felt confident using the system— often requiring only a few days and a couple of cases to learn.

We took our technology to the global stage
In 2024, we showcased our robotic solutions at different medical and industry events.
We brought Micromate™ to Interventional Radiology and Oncology (IR/IO) congresses, including the European Congress of Interventional Oncology (ECIO) and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe annual meeting (CIRSE). Our miniature robot was also featured in two major presentations at the Society of Interventional Oncology annual scientific meeting (SIO). For the final event of the year, we supported the ESIR course on percutaneous tumor ablation, which took place in Innsbruck and was hosted by Prof. Reto Bale.
Micromate™ was also highlighted for its role in spine interventions during the London Spine Intervention Course and the PAIRS annual congress, thanks to presentations by Dr. Marco van Strijen. We also supported the ESIR course on Spine Interventions held at the Attikon University General Hospital and hosted by Prof. Dimitrios Filippiadis.
LARC Robotics, our venture in the urology field, presented its latest developments for achieving renal access, namely in Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL), at the American Urology Association (AUA) and the European Association of Urology (EAU) annual congresses. In Paris, attendees had the chance to hear about Primar Prof. Dr. Udo Nagele’s experience with the technology.
Lastly, we presented at industry events to take our robotic technology even further. Pedro Costa discussed the challenges of market adoption in surgical robotics at LSI USA and LSI Europe, and the team was at the Surgical Robotics Society annual meeting to connect with other MedTech companies driving the future of robotic surgery.
We look forward to what 2025 will bring!
This year has laid the groundwork for what’s coming next at Interventional Systems. We’re looking forward to building more partnerships and offering integrated solutions to help even more patients experience the benefits of minimally invasive (and even micro-invasive!) robotic-assisted procedures. Plus, you can expect to see more innovative advancements across different medical specialties.
Thank you to our incredible team, partners, and supporters who made 2024 a success. Let’s continue to break new ground in the year ahead!
