The number of total shoulder replacements done in the US is growing and more of those procedures are going for Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) after the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) added total shoulder arthroplasty to the ASC Covered Procedures List (ASC-CPL) 

This addition recognizes the safety and effectiveness of the ASC setting, which typically operates at lower costs than hospitals while achieving the same outcomes without sacrificing quality of care. Savings range from 53% to 55% per procedure and could increase further with the right enabling technology.
